The Sheikdom of Dubai combines the resort ambience of world-class beaches with modern, big-city bustle and technologically innovative architecture. Our speaker’s daughter and son-in-law teach in Dubai, and she has visited many times. She will bring artifacts, show a short DVD, and tell about her experiences in this very interesting part of the world.

WANDERERS—Friday, March 14th, 2:30 Departure––”Green” Parade of Homes Visit
We’re thinking “green” in March thanks to St. Patrick, so let’s add to the fun with a visit to the “green” homes featured in this Spring’s Parade of Homes. These homes were built with the latest environmentally friendly techniques and design¬¬¬¬––insulated concrete form construction, geo thermal heating/cooling and recycled products. We’ll visit #544 and #530 in Mound and Excelsior and one in Shakopee, time permitting. See the Parade booklet or www.paradeofhomes.org for more info. There is no admission charge. We’ll walk two blocks from Jane’s home to the Walker Art Center for Wolfgang Puck’s special tasting menu (only $20.21) and return for our 7PM discussion of Water for Elephants. “The memories still dwell inside Jacob Jankowski’s 90-something-year-old mind. Memories of a world filled with freaks and clowns, with wonder, pain, anger and passion; a world with its own narrow, irrational rules, its own way of life, and its own way of death.” A carpool will depart at 5PM from Edina. Or, you may meet us for whatever part of the evening you wish.
