*Please note earlier start time* Have you always wanted to see the Global Market and never gotten around to it? The market – the first of its kind in Minneapolis – opened in June and occupies the ground floor of the old Sears building. It boasts a huge variety of more than 50 international vendors. Join us as we walk around, look at the shops, and each choose the ethnic foods—Greek, Vietnamese, Mexican, American, Norwegian, West Indian, Caribbean, Mediterranean—we want to eat. We will meet with our selections for an early dinner at the tables near Holy Land Gyros store. You can even buy food-to-go and bring it home for the family. Please bring money to pay for your own dinner and quarters to help feed the meters. Carpools will leave Edina at 3:30PM. Tickets ($10–$6 for seniors and subscribers) can be purchased at www.guthrietheater.org or the box office at . Car pools will leave Edina at 9:15am. Or, meet us there. LUNCHEON–Tuesday, November 27th, 11:00 Departure Crossroads Delicatessen
“Crossroads Delicatessen has a quality menu filled with gastronomic delights including reuben sandwiches, strawberry-chicken salad, veggie-filled scrambled eggs, and a wide assortment of sweets. The price may be slightly higher than what you’d expect from a neighborhood deli, but once you slurp your matzo ball soup and bite into your fresh baked bread, those extra pennies will mean nothing to you. The only crossroad you’ll find yourself at when you come here is deciding on what to order, but whatever you choose will be delicious.” Carpools will leave Edina at 11:00AM. RSVP by Saturday, November 24th to Sally@Edinanewcomers.org Please indicate if you plan to carpool. Directions: Located at the intersection of Cedar Lake Road and Hopkins Crossroads. From Hwy 169 go west on Cedar Lake Road. Deli is last left turn before you reach Hopkins Crossroads. From 394 going west, exit on Hopkins Crossroads, go south to Cedar Lake Road, turn east and take the first right turn. Restaurant is just behind the Holiday Gas Station.
BOOKCLUB–Tuesday, November 27th, 7:00PM at the home of a member
Jeannette Walls award-winning Glass Castle is a remarkable memoir of resilience and redemption, and a revelatory look into a family at once deeply dysfunctional and uniquely vibrant. It is truly astonishing a memoir permeated by the intense love of a peculiar, but loyal, family.
