The start of school is only weeks away—and another summer has flown by! But, I’ll be happy to have the break from the relentless heat and humidity that September brings. That’s the beauty of Minnesotathere’s always another season to look forward to. We’re looking forward to three seasons of wonderful ENC activities, too. Come along for the fun! International Night is taking a break this month, but we have a couple international encounters planned this month. We’ll check out EuroNest (formerly EuroPine) at this month’s Coffee. The Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden is a hidden gem. Discover it with the Wanderers. Enjoy a taste of France at Salut Bar Americain on Ladies Night Out. WANDERERS–Wednesday, September 5th, 5:15 DepartureEloise Butler
Wildflower Garden Tour, Theodore Wirth Park, Minneapolis.
The century-old Eloise Butler Garden is the nation’s oldest wildflower garden. The 15-acre garden consists of three ecosystem types: woodland, wetland and prairie. Wednesday evenings, April-mid-October, naturalists lead tours of the garden. The one hour tours are free, but the parking meters eat quarters. The shredded bark covered path is approximately 2/3 of a mile in length. Please wear comfortable, closed shoes. RSVP by Tuesday, September 4th to Sally@edinanewcomers.org. Carpools will leave Edina at 5:15PM, or meet in the parking lot on Eloise Butler Dr. at 5:50pm for the 6PM tour.

Drive EAST on Glenwood to Wirth Pkwy. Turn RIGHT on Wirth Pkwy. and then LEFT into Eloise Butler Dr.
I also highly recommend the Mpls. Heritage Preservation Commission’s free walking tours which will end for the season in September. www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/hpc/. Of particular interest are tours of the U of M, September 15 from 1-3 and the Lustron Houses, September 9 from 12:30.
